Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Retail Associate to join our team at GardenWorx Riverhead Farm and Garden. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. As a Retail Associate, you will assist customers with their gardening needs, maintain store displays, and ensure a pleasant shopping experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers as they enter the store and provide a welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist customers in selecting plants, gardening supplies, and other products based on their needs.
- Answer questions and provide expert advice on gardening techniques, plant care, and product usage.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Sales:
- Operate cash registers and handle customer transactions accurately.
- Upsell and recommend additional products to enhance customer purchases.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales promotions and special offers.
Merchandising:
- Ensure that shelves and displays are well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
- Assist in setting up seasonal displays and promotional materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or stock issues to management.
Maintenance:
- Keep the store clean and tidy, including sweeping, dusting, and organizing products.
- Water plants and ensure they are well-cared for to maintain their health and appearance.
- Assist with unloading and stocking new merchandise as it arrives.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve store goals and provide excellent customer service.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements:
Experience:
- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of gardening, plants, and horticulture is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, as some tasks may involve outdoor work.
